What is S.T.A.R.S.
STARS Academy has developed a curriculum that centers around academics and transitioning for the special needs student. STARS is a program that is geared to meet the challenge of training special needs students to have the skills necessary to find and maintain employment after graduation. Students are offered the opportunity to work in a variety of settings in the community, learning how to function in the business world and of the behaviors that make one successful. The low student to staff ratio of 3:1 allows for the teachers to act as job coaches, which means that all students are under the supervision of a Paterson Public Schools staff member and that each student is able to receive individualized instruction.
The mission of S.T.A.R.S. Academy is to prepare our students to become productive members of their community in the workplace through emphasis on honesty, responsibility, caring, trust, and respect for staff as well as others.
VISION OF S.T.A.R.S. ACADEMY
S.T.A.R.S. Academy will encourage and promote transitioning from school to work. We expect all students to reach for the stars and to follow their own dreams of becoming a productive member of the Paterson community.
